Thank you, Gord Downie

We knew it was coming…but it still stings. 💔

I’ve been listening to 92.1 CITI and thinking about the magnitude of this loss. I mean even the Prime Minister was reduced to tears while declaring “We are less as a country without Gord Downie in it.”

It’s an incredibly sad day.

But at the same time, I think about his (and the band’s) legacy. This huge body of work that reached a nation. How many musicians/bands have such an impact that a nation can identify with their work?

Yes, it’s sad that he’s physically gone. But look what he did. Look at the important messages he left.

I disagree with the Prime Minister. We aren’t less of a country because he’s gone. He’s still here and always will be because he left us with insights into who we are and where we need to go.

Thank you Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip for sharing these gifts. We are (and will continue to be) better for it. ❤️
