Many Winnipeggers, including Mayor Brian Bowman, showed up for the unveiling of “heaven between”, a sculpture by Vancouver artist, Bill Pechet.
Bill was also responsible for “emptyful”, the beaker sculpture at the Millennium Library in 2012.
Mr. Pechet said, “It’s been a great privilege working in your city.” He also gave thanks to everyone involved.
After the Mayor and Bill said a few words, the crowd moved to the median for the ‘lighting up’ of the sculpture.
Mayor Bowman encouraged everyone to come closer so “we could all do this together.”
Afterwards a reception was held in the Fools and Horses Cafe at 379 Broadway where snacks and free coffees, lattes and teas were served.
