Old Market Square, the heart of Winnipeg’s 25th annual Fringe Theatre Festival, again became the central gathering spot for Winnipeggers. In Friday’s evening opening act, “Chris without the hat” presented an amazing fire show with elements of a big-top circus and juggling with a traditional close to his show – his face covered in pie.
These free shows were just two of many taking place on the Cube stage in Old Market Square and surrounding Exchange District streets. Angus and Matilda – The Circus Firemen – surprised both adults and children with their dextrous circus tricks throughout their 40-50 minute show featuring acrobatics, fire juggling and precarious balancing feats on ladders. The duo’s Australian humour is evident throughout and kept the crowds entertained and engaged. Winnipeg’s Fringe Theatre Festival runs until July 29th.
