Vancouver’s star star theatre Fringe play Wild/Society is actually two plays in which animals bring awareness as to how environmental issues affect them.
And you thought animals only talked in cartoons. Well these two animated ladies started off Act I with high society Ms. Rabbit preparing for a dinner party when her old country pal Ms. Raccoon unexpectedly pays her a visit.
Apparently deforestation hasn’t been an issue in this affluent area…until now. Lots of witty one liners like ‘jumping to conclusions’ from Rabbit and other smart lines had the audience laughing at these critter’s antics.
Act II saw two penguins lounging on an iceberg getting drunk on vodka and snorting cocaine. They represent greedy corporate CEO’s who put profit before people.
Sometimes good things never last and these two penguins seem to be “treading on thin ice.”
Well delivered performances from the brilliant duo of Mika Laulainen and Melissa Oei. Wild/Society is written and directed by Mika Laulainen .
