Everyone has their story. Over the past year, I’ve heard so many stories in my ventures through broadcast journalism. Sometimes you go in thinking you are going to hear one story, and leave hearing so much more.
It’s a great feeling, for me anyway. I love to give voices to people that may not be able to reach the audience they’re looking for. That is my goal with my new project, Janessa Meets Winnipeg.
Janessa Meets Winnipeg is a project that started through my school program, Creative Communications at Red River College. Already, it has become something so much bigger.
I am producing content for Shaw TV’s program Switch. I am interviewing people between the ages of 16-25 in the Winnipeg area who have a sports or entertainment related story to tell. This is my main focus because these are two areas of interest.
When I finish school, I would love to continue to do something like this but perhaps on a bigger level. As for the show, it will be airing very soon on Shaw TV. Until then, you can ‘like’ my Facebook page and check out my promo video.
I am also open to suggestions for content. If you think there’s someone in Winnipeg who has a great story to tell and they fit the guidelines above, please feel free to comment, or post something on my Facebook page.
