Bulrushes Gallery, recently included by Travel Manitoba in a list of ten amazing art galleries in Manitoba, has taken the next step in its quest to make great Canadian art available to everyone.
Specializing in rediscovered lost art, Bulrushes now makes it possible for people to stroll through a series of virtual galleries by visiting the gallery’s website at www.bulrushesgallery.ca.
These online galleries feature more than 500 pieces of original art including works by many Manitoba art legends and pioneers such as, Bruce Head, Winston Leathers, Caroline Dukes, Tony Tascona, Kelly Clark, Bill Lobchuck and Arthur Adamson as well as important and listed Canadian artists such as, Charles Pachter, Gordan Smith, Sam Black, Ed Bartram, Roslyn Swartzman, Gordan Marich, Roland Piche and David Umholtz.
There are also hundreds of outstanding works by artists who are less well known but every bit as talented as their more established contemporaries.
These artists spent their lives quietly creating exceptional works of beauty and inspiration, often devoting little time to self-promotion. As a result, many great artists were never discovered and did not receive the recognition they deserved.
“Bulrushes wants to reintroduce Manitobans to these gifted artists and their wonderful creations,” says gallery curator Tim Wall.
“It’s our goal to make fine art really accessible and to remind people of Manitoba’s rich art heritage. This virtual gallery is just one more way we can do this,” Wall adds.
Wander through a collection of modernist, traditional, historic and contemporary works including an exceptional collection of modern and vintage original prints by some of Canada’s foremost printmakers.
“There is truly something for every taste and everything is priced so that fine art is available to everyone,” says gallery co-owner Don Rogers.
“Great art does not need to come at a great price. That’s just one more thing that makes us unique.”

The gallery is situated a few minutes west of Winnipeg Beach at 801 Kernstead Rd between Hwy 9 and 8.
Bulrushes Gallery opened its doors this past June and is located near the resort community of Winnipeg Beach. Situated in a picturesque rural setting the gallery provides a tranquil backdrop for this art hub.
The gallery also features exceptional pieces by a select group of contemporary Canadian artists including metal and glass art, pottery – both contemporary and vintage – and jewelry.
