It’s called 12-Hour Drone: Experiments in Sounds of Winter – Embracing Winnipeg’s Winter Hibernation – Coming Together in Slow Breathing & Heart Rate.
The 12-Hour Drone is a satellite of 24-Hour Drone, an immersive event and all-encompassing experience, and a roving, transatlantic series created and presented by Basilica Hudson and Le Guess Who?, featuring musicians and sound artists experimenting within the spectrum of drone.
Auf der Maur, co-founder of Basilica Hudson, suggests people bring a chair (and/or yoga mat), a sleeping bag, water and snacks in order to enjoy this cross-pollination of instrumentation, musical traditions and culture that creates a tapestry of human experience; a sonic, communal adventure.
In these video clips shot by Doug Kretchmer on Wednesday, Basinski and Auf der Maur discuss many aspects of their work, as well as their impressions of Winnipeg New Music Festival and the enthusiastic audiences it has attracted.
