Tipped & Tipsy by suspiciously named San Franciscan Jill Vice deftly serves up triple shot ruminations about alcohol that spans this drug’s ability for giddy fun while not forgetting its sobering reality.
Vice’s ability to weave an amusing yet compelling narrative alone rides on her strength in building characters one gesture and vocal tick at a time.
Her choice to break up the narrative with old timey newsreel and commercial radio segments are an effective way of injecting additional humour while not taking away from the play’s overarching narrative.
Tipped & Tipsy raises the question, does drink make life bearable, or does it make it unbearable? And the query is asked while remaining a humorous and entertaining experience.
For those of you who enjoy audience participation, sit in the first few rows to have the particularly creepy thrill of being cruised by Ricco the bar owner.
