A wise man once said “If it can’t be fun, it better be weird”. The Fringe play Tourology: A Mindy and Marge Adventure is not sufficient enough of either to be recommended.
Staring on the corner of Market Avenue and Lily Street our self-proclaimed expert travelers, Mindy and Marge promise to take us on an enlightened excursion through the Exchange District with a focus on Chinatown.
However, don’t expect to learn anything about or go near Chinatown.
Do expect to hold onto a rope like a kindergartener along with your fellow audience members and participate in group selfies.
The Fringe Festival is designed as a place for performers, especially emerging thespians, to hone their craft and experiment with new forms of theatre.
You want to applaud this attempt by energetic Winnipeggers Kaitlin Aiello and Rachel Smith but their improvisational skills and ability to develop unique and interesting characters needs further work.
