Got a story to tell? Interested in learning how to be an online multi-media journalist? Then, you may want to check out the upcoming Community News Commons citizen journalism spring training sessions.
Now in their 5th installment (previous sessions were held in the spring and fall of 2012 and 2013), CNC training offers free instruction in all aspects of multi-media production. Whether you’re looking at writing articles, taking photographs, recording audio, or shooting video, CNC classes are an enjoyable and informative way to learn the creative and technical skills needed for effective storytelling.
Facilitated by local professional journalists, and intended to serve as a practical way to getting published online, the sessions have been extremely popular in the past and tend to fill up quickly as space is limited. Registration for these free courses can be found online by clicking here.
The spring 2014 CNC training will run from May 5 to June 11, and will be held every Monday and Wednesday evening from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm (except for one Tuesday class on May13).
Monday sessions are at the Carol Shields Auditorium in the Millennium Library and Wednesday workshops are at the Winnipeg Free Press Café.
I just want to thank Noah and Dan for their hard work in helping us to become better journalists, and writers. I have learnt so much in the past five sessions about my writing, and to instill in us the values of good journalism is a valiant task that few take upon themselves. They are great teachers and role models for people getting into the business.
Thank you.
