From canvas to clay, new works by Charlene Brown showcases a combination of sculptures and paintings that invite the viewer into a world “about life and living, about the daily struggle and to the mind–heart connect,” explains Brown.
Her work blends colours and shapes with an abstract approach, allowing the viewer to think outside the structure of realism and into the freedom to focus on the spirit, energy and expressions being portrayed.
Inside Out is a series of new works acknowledging the spirit within. The pieces explore the notion that we live with many opposing forces within and around us and are constantly struggling to find a balance.
Charlene Brown is a visual artist, who has been working with clay since 1995. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Manitoba.
Her sculptures are a mixed media, described as fluid and organic and are influenced by the simple beauty of nature. Through the use of symbolism she tries to capture the human condition in various stages of life.
Limited time engagement is now on display at the Winnipeg Art Gallery Shop, Fri. Feb. 20 to Sun. Mar. 15.
