Winnipeg artist QUIDAM will be exhibiting his photographs at the WAG (the mini WAG that is – The Wayne Arthur Gallery, 186 Provencher Blvd.) with an opening reception on Friday, August 1st from 7-9pm and an exhibit and sale continuing until August 27.
The theme of the show is ‘Travels with QUIDAM’ – A collection of photos of travels through India and across Canada.
QUIDAM trekked across Canada many times over the last few decades. In 2007, he was the support driver for Bhaktimarga Swami, also known as ‘The Walking Monk’ (thewalkingmonk.org) on the monk’s third walk across Canada. He travelled with him from Winnipeg to Cape Spear, Newfoundland, and in 2012 when the Walking Monk decided to walk across Canada for the fourth time, he asked QUIDAM to join him once again. The monk broke the fourth walk into three summers and just recently finished in June of this year.
In February and March of 2013, QUIDAM also visited India where he was fascinated by the rich, spiritual and colourful cultures he experienced there. He sifted through his many photos and would like to share them with the public.
Over the years, QUIDAM has exhibited his photographs and videos in group shows but this is his first solo show. He is a lens-based artist (video and photography) whose videos and photos have been exhibited internationally.
QUIDAM is a latin word for anonymous but I’ll let you in on a little secret- I am QUIDAM.
The Wayne Arthur Gallery is owned and operated by Bev Morton and the hours for the gallery are Tuesday to Saturday 11:00am -5:00pm. The Wayne Arthur Gallery features a different artist each month and many artists’ works are for sale at the gallery.
