Joey and Dave Landreth have it all – raw talent, stage charisma and a boxcar full of hit songs from their new album, Let it Lie (2013).
Their CD has done so well in Canada that the group has recently been picked up by a US record label – Slate Creek Records. Several JUNO nominees claim to have the album on their mp3’s and The 2014 Winnipeg Folk Festival will feature the band on July 9th, the same night that the legendary Bonnie Raitt performs.
Brothers David and Joey Landreth are the ultimate dynamic duo. Dave, who sings backup and plays bass, has a great business sense and so he looks after the band’s financial matters, while Joey’s heart-on-your-sleeve writing, husky singing voice and guitar prowess plays the lead, concentrating mostly on the creative aspects of the group.
Dave and Joey’s chemistry is a huge plus – the two siblings genuinely love each other, and their trademark affection is evident onstage.
As Mel B stated about a recent contestant on America’s Got Talent, these boys have got it all, “Hot looks, talent, can cook, and love their parents.” Their father is Winnipeg veteran musician, Wally Landreth.
The Bros. have kept very busy driving their Dodge van, affectionately dubbed, “Rammy Davis Jr.,” since the release party for Let it Lie at the West End Cultural Centre back in September of 2013.
They have also been nominated this year for two Western Canadian Music Awards: Roots Duo/Group and Songwriter(s) of the Year and Album Design of the Year. Dave’s lady friend, Roberta Hansen, is a gifted graphic artist who has created the nominated album design.
Let it Lie was produced by local music veteran Murray Pulver, 2009 Canadian Country Music Awards producer of the year. Pulver has also worked with Tara Oram, Doc Walker and Crash Test Dummies.
Beside the Bros. stand Ryan “Rhino” Voth (drums and on-road sandwich maker extraordinaire) as well as Alex Campbell (keyboards and harmonica).
So, if you’re so inclined, wave your hankies in salute of this train rumbling down the tracks. The Bros. Landreth — Winnipeg is proud of you!
