The Community Support Performance is an outreach program that allows Rainbow Stage to introduce musical theatre to people who might not otherwise be able to attend an outdoor musical theatre performance.
This program, sponsored in part by The Winnipeg Foundation, aims to provide an unforgettable musical theatre experience for groups who share our values of inclusivity and accessibility but do not have the resources to purchase tickets or capacity to attend as an individual.
To date, Rainbow Stage has been able to provide over 10,000 Rainbow Stage theatre tickets to more than 250 different community organizations in Winnipeg and surrounding area since 2007.
The Community Support Performance is one of Rainbow Stage’s principal outreach programs and seeks to foster stronger and healthier links with our neighbourhoods and communities.
Rainbow Stage has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all the attending groups and the community leaders. Some of the responses we have received:
“Rainbow Stage Thank you for including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage La Prairie in your community Support night, Sponsored by the Winnipeg Foundation. The Youth and children in our program greatly enjoyed the performance of Little Mermaid.” – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage La Prairie
“Please accept our sincerest Thank You for giving those we support the opportunity to see the Rainbow Stage production of The Little Mermaid. Each year we have enjoyed seeing the new musicals. We are grateful for the tickets you provide us here at Epic Opportunities.” – Epic Opportunities
“Thank you so much for the tickets. Our group had a fantastic time at the show last week and we all really appreciated the change to take in the show – something many of them would have never be able to afford to do without the donated tickets. One of my friends described it this way “that gave me a million dollar feeling” please pass on our thanks to everyone who helped to make it possible.” -House Blend Ministries
Rainbow stage extends invitations to organizations that have attended the previous season; new organizations are provided the opportunity to apply for this unique opportunity.
New applications are based on two main considerations: a) they must be a not-for-profit; community-focused organization and b) they share and exemplify our core values of inclusivity and accessibility in their organizational programming.
This year Rainbow Stage is proud to give the many different organizations we work with the opportunity to see Sister Act which is playing Aug. 13 to Sept. 1 with the matinee performance on Aug. 14.
