Local artists finally have a place to come together and share their work with each other, as well as the rest of the community as Art of Winnipeg launches an exciting new Facebook page www.facebook.com/artofwinnipeg
The new Art of Winnipeg Facebook page was created to showcase the many art mediums and works of Winnipeg artists; from pencil sketches, paintings and photography, to large works such as graffiti art and murals.
While many artists are already active on Facebook, this is another way for them to engage and interact, and to be part of a growing and creative online community. Art of Winnipeg is encouraging artists of all kinds — established and known artists, students or someone who just loves to express themselves through art — to check out the Art of Winnipeg Facebook page and to see what it can offer them as a local artist.
The page provides an easy way to stay up-to-date with news in the art world, upcoming events around town, art classes, shared posts from local art organizations, and all things art. The page is open to all artists (and those interested in art) in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
Anyone interested in joining this online community of local artists is encouraged to visit the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/artofwinnipeg and click “Like”.
Art of Winnipeg is also planning a further online presence with the launch of a new website. Details for the website include an event calendar with art shows across the city, feature artists page, ability for artists to showcase their work, and much more.
The website will also host a registered portfolio section – where artists can create a one-page portfolio right on the site. The hope is to also have suppliers & galleries get involved so artists know where to get supplies, framing, good deals, etc.
AOW’s mission is to get Winnipeg recognized as the Art Capital of Canada. The belief is that it can be achieved with the help of local artists, galleries, suppliers, and the citizens of Winnipeg who love art.
