Have I told you just how much I looove my digital video recorder also known as a PVR? We rarely watch TV commercials, but we do see them zoom by in fast forward, and you can’t help but notice this one (.. audio..)
What on earth is Trivago , and who ‘s their pitchman who looks like a reject from a bad Don Johnson movie? It’s a specialized search engine that helps travelers find the best bargains when it comes to hotel rooms.
OK, but why do they run so many commercials? They show up 3 or 4 times in one CBC television newscast, and I’ve lost track of how many would run in a football game. Whenever I see that many spots, for a service that really doesn’t seem that valuable, I get suspicious. “Could it be money laundering for the mob?” I wonder to myself. I know .. I watch far too many movies.
By the way, the actor who does the Trivago commercials? He’s an American named Tim Williams. He’s made a few films, most of which have gone directly into prisons and airplanes. I suspect he gets paid in hotel rooms.
How I pity the folks who have to watch the Blue Bombers and the Roughriders in real time. They can’t escape Trivago. FYI, the company started about a decade ago in Germany, and it grew like topsy. It did so well that it was bought out a couple of years ago by Expedia no less, for 630 million dollars.
I’ve spent most of my life in radio, so I can’t afford to travel very far. Funny, I couldn’t find Kenosee Gardens anywhere on Trivago.
Bless my PVR.
