What do you get when you combine fresh ideas, fresh ingredients and the high-spirited energy of local entrepreneurs Troy and Coralee Turner? Freshii, Winnipeg’s newest healthy restaurant.
I recently stopped into Winnipeg’s first Freshii, still under construction at 740 Corydon Avenue. I had the pleasure of meeting Troy and Coralee Turner (pictured above), the franchise owners.
“Our mission is provide our customers with a menu focused on food you can eat [to help you] get energized,” said Troy. “In fact, that’s our motto: Eat and Energize. Freshii’s menu is a pallet of green, with foods to maximize your daily energy, custom-made green wraps, salads, quinoa bowls, and fresh-pressed, high-energy juices.”
Freshii strives to be “green” in the environmental sense as well, explains Coralee. “Green is not just expressed in our menu but also in our mission to help sustain our planet by eliminating excess packaging and heavy energy consumption.”
Freshii was founded by Winnipeg-born Matthew Corrin, who opened his first location in Toronto 10 years ago. Today, there are Freshii restaurants in more than 60 cities and 12 countries worldwide. More than just a great place to eat nutritious food, Freshii has a socially responsible mission as well. It works with Free the Children on projects such as building school kitchens and vegetable gardens in developing countries. Visit www.freshii.com for more information.
It’s always great to have a fresh place to meet and eat in Winnipeg. Bon appetite!
