The downtown Connection 55+ Resource Event is on through Thursday at the Edmonton Court in the Portage Place Shopping Centre.
This three day event promotes healthy aging with a pertinent lecture followed by a fun exercise segment each day.
On Tuesday at 11 a.m., there was a talk by Victoria Lifeline on preventing falls followed by a drumming demonstration at noon with Eda Korchynski of Dejembe Winnipeg.
Anyone looking for resources on different aspects of aging can get information from the booths set up by various social agencies.
On Wednesday there will be a lecture on brain health presented by the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
Valour Community Centre will be sending some line dancing instructors to demonstrate the step sequences. Some of the seniors from the centre will be on hand helping others join in so be sure to bring good footwear.
The final lecture on Thursday will be a presentation by the Winnipeg Police on frauds and scams targeting seniors. It will be followed by Zumba with Karen Hodgins, instructor at several local seniors centres.
Come by between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to enjoy the presentations and to pick up your free copy of the new Seniors Guide.
