Most people have heard of TED and how this world famous conference celebrates the power of ideas.
But, what about TEDxKildonan? It’s also focused on the power of ideas … in Winnipeg.
TEDx is a branch of the TED conference, where the “x” signifies an independently organized TED event. The TEDx program allows for local facilitators all around the world to convene TED like conferences for their local communities and cities.
This is exactly what the TEDxKildonan team has done; they’ve created the latest (and some think, greatest) TEDx event to hit Winnipeg.
Recently, TEDxKildonan announced their speaker applications. This could be an exciting opportunity for anyone to submit an idea they have to the TEDxKildonan team for a chance to give a TED talk on the TEDxKildonan stage.
The team has already received some tremendous ideas from several Winnipeggers, and is looking for even more.
If you, or someone you know, has an idea worth spreading, you may want to apply. Speaker applications can be found online at www.tedxkildonan.com, and will close on Oct. 12, at 11:59 p.m.
Ideas can come from anyone, and can be literally anything. Some of the most famous TED talks have come from people who are not famous; many were nothing other than a hidden gem.
It should be noted that no talk can have a religious, political or commercial agenda.
If you don’t have an idea, don’t worry. You can still attend or volunteer. Tickets for TEDxKildonan will go on sale Oct. 14, and the event is expected to be sold out within a few days.
If you are a person excited by new ideas, mark your calendar: Dec. 5 is gearing up to be an event of life-changing ideas, amazing collaboration, and wonderful thinking.
TEDxKildonan wants everyone to share in the enlightening thoughts that are bubbling up from the minds of Winnipeggers.
