Shaftesbury High School YiP Committee.
It has been a great year for the Shaftesbury High School Youth in Philanthropy Committee.
This year we welcomed several new members, many of whom became engaged in philanthropy for the first time through the Youth in Philanthropy program.
We chose to focus on several different categories of interest in order to make the best use of our resources. Among the charitable organizations that we visited this year were Assiniboine Park Conservancy, Women’s Health Clinic, and the Royal Aviation Museum.
Many members of our committee who have been involved in Youth in Philanthropy throughout their high school experience are now leaving Shaftesbury, which has us reflecting on the memories we have created.
Throughout our years of involvement, we have been able to grant to a diverse group of organizations and have had a positive impact on our city.
Memorable sites visits from the past include ImagineAbility, Winnipeg Harvest, and Habitat for Humanity. Through various site visits, we have been able to experience our community in new ways and learn more about our great city.
Our experiences in Youth in Philanthropy have inspired us to become more engaged and active members of our community and have led to new and exciting opportunities for involvement in philanthropy.
As our Youth in Philanthropy experience comes to an end and many of us say goodbye to high school, we look forward to new opportunities for community involvement. We will be able to use the skills we developed throughout our YiP experience and the unique perspective we gained will guide us in our future endeavors.
