Meanwhile, on stage, two very special productions are a part of this year’s lineup: Ring of Fire and SHREK The Musical.
The Man in Black is making his way to Rainbow Stage!
Created by Richard Maltby, Jr., conceived by William Meade, and orchestrated by Steven Bishop and Jeff Lisenby, Ring of Fire is a raucous celebration of the music, spirit and life of the legendary singer-songwriter Johnny Cash.
A cast of eight wonderfully versatile actor/musicians will each “walk the line”, taking turns portraying Cash and bringing his music back to life.
Ring of Fire offers a rare glimpse at the life and times of Johnny Cash, as well as providing a fascinating insight into the man, the myth, and the legend.
Described by the New York Times as a show that “follows a sort of ages-of-man path from green country-boy idealism into the sloughs of a hard-living musician’s disillusionment and on up to the mountains of spiritual redemption…”
Ring of Fire is sure to move and entertain you!
There’s an ogre in the Park!
Based on the DreamWorks animation motion picture and book by William Steig, with lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, this Tony-winning musical fairy tale is anything but ordinary.
The musical journey takes us to a land far, far away where a grumpy ogre sets out to rescue a feisty princess with more than a few unlikely sidekicks. A chatty donkey, a little prince with big problems, a fed-up Pinocchio and a confident cookie are just a few of the characters we’ll meet along the way.
Unexpected and hilarious fun for everyone, SHREK The Musical reminds us that everybody is unique and that’s what makes us irreplaceable.
Tickets for both shows are on sale now over the phone at 204-989-0888 or at 1-888-989-0888, or online at www.rainbowstage.ca. Make sure to grab them quick as this is a season not to disappoint the musical theatre lover or child at heart.
