The Youth in Philanthropy (YiP) team of St. Mary’s Academy have once again completed another busy and successful year.
Through projects and site visits, YiP team members of 2015-2016 dedicated many hours of their time to the people of Winnipeg.
In total, $1500 worth of grants were given to organizations including, Henteleff Park Foundation, Kids Inc., West Broadway Youth Outreach, Trees Winnipeg, Lake Winnipeg Foundation and Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre (MATC).

YiP members collected more than 300 books during a book drive in October for the West Broadway Youth Outreach, baked cookies for inner city children for Christmas and for various fundraisers, and the team is completing a sewing project in May.
Four members participated in the Coldest Night of the Year Walk for RaY (Resource Assistance for Youth, Inc.), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless youth in the community.
St. Mary’s Academy YiP members are also active participants of several events held throughout the year.
Although YiP at St. Mary’s is composed of only a handful of students from grades 10-12, it’s clear each person is happy to dedicate time and effort to help the people of Winnipeg.
It is the hope of the YiP team that more students at St. Mary’s Academy will join the group and continue to be people of hospitality!
