Can you tell your story in three minutes?
For staff of charitable organizations, explaining what they do and why in a quick, compelling way improves their chances of engaging donors and funders to back their cause. And, in an environment where government funding is undependable, connecting with individuals is increasingly important to an organization’s survival.
But, keeping it concise takes thought and practice. Enter Fast Pitch, a new program from The Winnipeg Foundation that is connecting 18 leaders from local charities with volunteer coaches from Winnipeg’s legal, financial and communications sectors.
Part of an international movement, Fast Pitch Winnipeg is a three-month program designed to build capacity for local non-profits and volunteerism in the business community. Together with their coaches, leaders of local charities will hone powerful, high-energy cases for support for their organizations – delivered in three minutes or less!
The series of coaching sessions begins later this month and culminates in April when presenters will compete for a total of $20,000 in prize money for their organizations.
For The Winnipeg Foundation, which makes grants to local charitable organizations, Fast Pitch is a way of providing a new type of support – hands-on professional development and a networking opportunity with local business leaders. It’s also a fun way of raising profile of Winnipeg’s non-profit sector, showcasing its diversity and critical role in our community.
