A water main break in Winnipeg’s south Osborne neighbourhood brought gushing water and icy slush into the streets on Monday afternoon.
Ankle deep water inundated the road, sidewalks and parking lots around the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre during the rush hour.
Exhaust fog and treacherous walking conditions were some of the hazards that greeted drivers and pedestrians.
The clean up, which included crews opening up drains, continued into the evening as traffic was restricted to one lane in each direction.

The watery, icy mess continued to effect traffic well into the evening, stalling out the transit bus pictured above.
This watery mess created havoc for most motorists who had to drive through it.
A Winnipeg Transit driver flooded the engine compartment of his bus. A tow truck for the bus arrived on the scene later to remove the bus.
Aside from some slippery sections, the conditions of the streets and sidewalks were back to normal by Tuesday afternoon. However, many motorists would not use the word ‘normal’ to describe road conditions in the City of Winnipeg this winter.
