Arts and culture add about $1 billion annually to Winnipeg’s Gross Domestic Profit and this community has a keen interest in those who would be Winnipeg’s next mayor.
With approximately 6.4 per cent of Winnipeg’s workforce engaged in one or another aspect of arts and culture, this industry is comparable to the finance, insurance and real estate or construction sectors.
Yesterday’s well-attended mayoral forum at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, hosted by Manitobans for the Arts, made it clear that Winnipeg’s creative community is watching and involved.
The forum was moderated by CBC Radio’s Terry MacLeod and attended by mayoral candidates Brian Bowman, Paula Havixbeck, Robert-Falcon Ouellette, David Sanders, Gord Steeves and Judy Wasylycia-Leis. Here is my video report.
