momondays, the unique and inspiring event sweeping across the country, is celebrating its second year anniversary in Winnipeg.
The brainchild of Michel Neray in Toronto, Winnipeg was the first city to pick up on the buzz. As soon as I heard about it, I knew Winnipeg would benefit from an event like this. Who couldn’t use a little more motivation? Especially on a Monday!
While extremely talented musicians like Sheena Grobb, Keith MacPherson, Sierra Noble and award-winning producer Dan Donahue have graced the momondays stage, it’s the speakers who bring the evenings to life. Real stories, real people and real inspiration are the themes, and each event showcases five or six speakers sharing a 10-minute true story of something inspirational and / or motivational in their life.
momondays are hosted by yours truly, Stephanie Staples, host of Your LIfe, Unlimited on CJOB (Sunday mornings from 9-10). Although I happen to be a professional speaker, most of the storytellers are not, but they are passionate about sharing their message and providing great edu-tainment for the audiences.
momondays Winnipeg is also unique in that we always have an audience interactive portion; although participation is not mandatory, the great percentage of the audience participates. As we say, “You meet the nicest people at momondays” and this portion of the evening allows people to connect with others whom they have not previously met. It gets people on their feet talking and laughing.
There’s been all sorts of fun surprises, like a race car from the speedway that people could climb in and start up, a flash mob and we’ve even had some improv.
In the end, momondays is about trying to make the world a better place and yourself a better person. It will take you on an emotional roller coaster that will leave you feeling happy, inspired and with lots to discuss on your way home.
Because the events are typically sold out, tickets are not sold at the door. The next momondays is on Monday (of course) September 15th. Tickets are $10 and you can get them here: http://bit.ly/Y3109Z.
