Poet Katherena Vermette at the On The Same Page launch.
Manitoba’s largest book club is back again for its seventh year, and you’re invited to join it!
Recently, River City 360’s Robert Zirk sat down with author Katherena Vermette to discuss On the Same Page, a year-long province-wide book club that chose her book, North End Love Songs, as its 2015 selection.
Katherena talks about what inspired her to write poetry about Winnipeg’s North End neighbourhood, the importance of the On the Same Page program, and how people are responding to the On the Same Page events that are being held throughout the year.
This week, on Thu. Feb. 19, On the Same Page presented The North End: In Words and Images, with Katherena Vermette and John Paskievich. It was held at St. John’s Library at 500 Salter Street.
Upcoming programs are scheduled for Portage La Prairie Regional Library (Thu. Mar. 12 at 6:30 pm), Gaynor Family Regional Library in Selkirk (Thu. Mar. 19 at 7 pm), and Brandon Public Library (Sat. Mar. 28 at 1 pm).
River City 360 is also giving away a prize pack which includes a copy of North End Love Songs, courtesy of the Winnipeg Public Library. Send their Facebook page a message with the answer to the question (hint: you’ll hear the answer when you listen to the interview!) Here’s how to enter:
