Tonight, it’s all about treaties over at Cinematheque, 100 Arthur Street, and an esteemed film director will be in attendance.
The National Film Board of Canada and the National Screen Institute present a free screening of Trick Or Treaty? A film by Alanis Obomsawin.
The film follows the journey of Indigenous people in their quest for justice as they seek to establish dialogue with the Canadian government. By tracing the history of their ancestors since the signing of Treaty No. 9, they are raising people’s awareness about the issues that concern them and finally putting an end to inertia.
The film’s director, Ms. Obomsawin, will take part in a post-screening ‘question and answer’ with the audience.
Show time is 7 pm but it’s best to arrive early as seating is limited.
