This year’s 2015 Words & Deeds Leadership Award Dinner held at Winnipeg’s RBC Convention Centre, co-produced by the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), honoured the Asper Family and the Asper Family Foundation for outstanding community efforts and inspiring contributions to humanitarian causes in Canadian society.
The theme of this year’s 2015 Words and Deeds gala event was “360 degrees”, featuring a centre stage crowned with an overhead 360 degree screen sharing images and videos highlighting the legacy of the Asper family and their foundation.
In between speeches, the audience was entertained with great dance performances by local artists from Winnipeg Studio Works amongst others.
Considered the business event of the year, the room was filled with many prominent community leaders from the business, academic, cultural and volunteer sectors, with federal, provincial and municipal politicians saluting the dedication of the honorees.
David Asper recalled his own father’s words that emphasized the goal of “making the world a better place for us all to live.” Words shared by the entire room – 360 degrees!
