Chiropractors are giving the gift of a good night’s sleep.
Supporting kids through the United Way, the Manitoba Chiropractors Association is collecting pajamas for their Pajama Drive until Dec. 12. Making sure kids are cozy and warm, chiropractors are asking clients and all Winnipeggers to make a donation of pajamas and / or a monetary donation for the United Way. This will allow the United Way to distribute gifts to their agency partners, who in turn give the gifts to children needing their services.
On this, the fifth year of the Pajama Drive, organizers are hoping to double last year’s donations.
The Drive began with one chiropractor, Bill Mulhall, who received pajamas on Christmas each year as a child. That memory gave him the idea to create a unique fundraiser focused on caring for children who need pj’s, thereby putting a smile on young children’s faces.
The effort enables Mulhall to continue receiving pajamas for Christmas, creating a new tradition to help other children experience the same feeling he experienced as a kid.
A large sign in front of Spectrum Health Centre, at the corner of Portage and Maryland, caught my eye. The sign reads, “United Way Pajama Drive, Drop Off New Pj’s Here, Phone 204-772-7700.”
Partnering with other chiropractor offices throughout Winnipeg in support of the Caring Chiropractors Pajama Drive, this charitable activity is helping make a difference for some lucky girls and boys.
The health centre office is decorated with a beautiful tree, adorned with gifts of pajamas in all sizes ranging from newborn to youth XL, underneath the Christmas tree.
There is also a tin for those who would like to give a monetary donation. Last year, Spectrum Health Centre used the money to purchase more pj’s for the Drive.
Many kids are forced to go without, and do not have the luxury of wearing soft, warm and cozy pajamas. With this being the season for giving a gift to help those in need, the Pajama Drive could provide an opportunity to make dreams come true by helping young girls and boys get a good night’s sleep.
There is nothing more beautiful than to see the smile on a child’s face when they receive a gift that truly comes from the heart.
