Despite the wintery weather, cycling remains a popular means of transportation year round in Winnipeg.
Our city is known to have many biking enthusiasts who embrace the challenges and joys of cycling in winter, even if the streets are sometimes covered in ice and snow.
In fact, mid-December saw the Winnipeg Repair Education and Cycling Hub (W.R.E.N.C.H.) hold a 24-hour bike-making magic workshop, where ‘mechanic elves’ helped cyclists get their two-wheeled chariots into winter-ready shape.
One of those volunteer elves was Will Belford, a bike mechanic who owns and operates Natural Cycle on Albert Street.
Recently, Dave Quanbury of the CKUW 95.9 FM show People of Interest, caught up with the busy Will Belford to chat about bike rules of the road, parade cycling, and other two-wheeled topics.
